If it had been a fine, with costs, the unpaid fare, victim surcharge and the now abolished criminal court charge or whatever the dickens it was called, you would probably have been looking nearer £300 ching by the Geordie Mags. I'm not sure I've ever admitted this, but I do think the revenue chaps were mean in not telling you the ticket back to Newcastle you bought would expire after 90 minutes, thus leaving you liable to repay said fare.

Judging by the attire of some of the locals, I always presumed that Tyneside was tropical most of the time and I was just lucky to get it when it is cooler. Elm Tree is such a good pub, think I need a Durham revisit next year if maybe a couple of newbies get in GBG ;)Si 'BRAPA' Everitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17291680772889990384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6677885556404476308.post-78841185814842800692017-06-07T22:22:36.903+01:002017-06-07T22:22:36.903+01:00Haha, I think the pubs picked me more than the oth...Haha, I think the pubs picked me more than the other way around, that is how it felt anyway on the day!

Really glad to know that my brief experiences tally with your presumably experienced local knowledge. Beehive so full of twats. Upmarket Spoons is perfect description of any Ember Inn, but none the better for it. Gutted about missing the micro. Trip back there in future then! Brandling was so doggy, is that true about the diluted gravy? Amazing. I bet that is what the Weston Old Rosie student had. Millstone very odd, no idea why that barman was so off with me! ...I get the pleasure Dave, but don't feel bad.

Best way around the ticket machine problem is to go to the booking office. Sod Souter's tight fisted evil plan.

I must point out that you were not fined, that is for the magistrates to do in the event of subsequent offending. You were charged a penalty fare, the usual means of dispensing of honest mistakes on many suburban networks. In addition you were charged for an additional ticket to get you back and when you travelled outwith the validity of said ticket you were quite reasonably requested to obtain a replacement.

Assuming Lilt is some form of beverage, you should have consumed the contents of the bottle then thrown the lid at Samuel's mother.Tom Irvinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15707212109059322727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6677885556404476308.post-75832506723790594242017-06-06T12:54:07.951+01:002017-06-06T12:54:07.951+01:00Oops. The B...Good to see tourists make it this far north! The Brandling Villa isn't a Sonnet/Tavistock pub - it's run by Dave Carr of Frank & Bird who also has the Tannery in Hexham. Hence very dog friendly! And as said above, the Union Rooms isn't a Spoons any more - is run by people who have one of the swanky cocktail bars in town, but the building is owned by the same people who have the Angel, Elm Tree, John Duck & New Inn in Durham. Shame it's not run by the Elm Tree folk!ChrisMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09088526990457894540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6677885556404476308.post-46069027527712502792017-06-05T11:25:33.668+01:002017-06-05T11:25:33.668+01:00Of all the pubs to visit on Tyneside, you managed ...Of all the pubs to visit on Tyneside, you managed to pick some of the worst! I don't live far from the Beehive which although the food is very good, it's usually full of twats. The Beacon is like a slightly upmarket Spoons and the saving grace used to be the beer, but no more. Sadly, only a mile away was the new micropub - the Left Luggage Rooms - in Monkseaton Metro station, which would have been a highlight. The Brandling seems to be more interested in catering for dogs, to the point of serving diluted gravy through a handpump for them. The Millstone has always been odd. Used be run by a French character. The Tyneside Cinema serves great scran but I wouldn't be going in just for a beer, largely due to the arty hipster clientele. And finally, the Union Rooms. Recently sold by Spoons to a private operator, it's gone downhill but it's a fantastic building. electricpicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09144970068645280352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6677885556404476308.post-20576866510011081192017-06-04T19:28:51.899+01:002017-06-04T19:28:51.899+01:00Sometimes I feel bad that your pain gives me so mu...Sometimes I feel bad that your pain gives me so much pleasure to read about.Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04039590363732278703noreply@blogger.com
